Thomas Finkel

  • After graduating in Business Administration from the University of Frankfurt  in 1995 I started working in Cordoba, Argentina, where I had studied for a semester.  In a project that fostered the competitiveness of the local small and medium enterprises of the metal working industry I gained first insights into organizational development processes as well as management tools that help companies increase productivity and quality.

  • In my second professional year I went to work for a project in Buenos Aires where my knowledge on change processes and competitiveness was deepened through the work with the national  industrial technology institute and its clients. After the project ended I continued working in Argentina and the region as short term consultant for projects of international organizations and companies.

  • After the project ended I continued working in Argentina and the region as short term consultant for projects of international organizations and companies.

  • Between 1999 and 2003 I had the chance to be part of the team that built up the PPP program (today called develoPPP) in which GIZ engages in partnerships with companies to jointly implement projects with a common purpose. Here I was responsible for initiating and accompanying projects in Southeast Asia.

  • Afterwards, being attracted by the fast changing and reforming but still charming location, I went to work in Hanoi, Vietnam. For 4 years I was advisor and team leader of a GIZ program  that fostered the competitiveness of the Vietnamese private sector with a focus on small and medium enterprises, including farmers.

  • In 2007 I changed location again and went to live and work in Hamburg as strategy and management advisor with a focus on international projects. The exiting work  as well as life with my wife and two children in a nice neighborhood in Hamburg made me interrupt the previous „4-year-change-location-cycle“ . Here I therefore continue  to live and work as a free lance consultant as well as partner and managing director of Como Consult. Besides that I invest and contribute to projects that make the energy turnaround to renewable energy happening.
